today was a really long but successful unplanned day. we ended up walking around a lot, seeing lots of Vienna's sights, going to the Albertine museum, on the Ring trolley tour, and ending the night with a sunset Danube River tour.... we packed a lot in to one day...

we made it to Vienna today! it's a beautiful city, but HOT! we wandered around, figured out the public transportation, ate awesome italian food, and had yummy dessert. a great start to a memorable vacation!

tonight, i went to a kına gecesi/henna night party for a friend of mine. it was my first time to go to one and it was quite the experience. she's getting married tomorrow, so this was a special time with friends and family. generally, these are just for women, but at hers anyone was invited.

we planned to go to the beach, but it was cool and rainy all day... a perfect excuse to lay around in your pjs for a good part of the day.. then trek across the city for chili's and a movie! :)

well, i'm getting lazy with taking pictures these days, so this is the only one i took today. i had lunch with friends at a mall, and apparently if you get fanta you get a cup the size of your face. i just couldn't get over how ridiculous it was that the cup was so big. i realize it's normal in america, but man! this is what happens when you send tara to get your lunch.. haha.. she's trying to prepare me for going back.. :) thanks, tara!

the students did skits to explain their time here..getting lost on a mountain with a broken down car, drinking from the cup, asking for straw instead of a straw, & getting stuck in a store.

i spent most of my day by a pool celebrating the 4th of july a couple of days early. lovely day.

we stopped in Cumalıkızık Village on the way through Bursa. it is an old village that has maintained its traditional character, down to the original cobblestone streets.
